Trust Is Critical in Getting Hired — And AI Can’t Build It
Trust is the foundation of every successful business relationship — between leaders and teams, companies and clients, or peers working toward a shared goal. It’s especially crucial in hiring. When an interviewer recommends a candidate, they’re taking a personal risk based on trust.
If you use AI to build your resume, which I, as a career coach do NOT recommend, prepare answers to questions and learn about the organization, it will not stand alone – you need to build trust.
Body Language Builds (or Breaks) Trust
Words matter, but how you say them matters more. Research shows nonverbal cues shape how others judge sincerity and confidence.
· ✅ Open posture and eye contact show approachability.
· ✅ Mirroring and genuine expressions build rapport.
· ❌ Crossed arms or inconsistent expressions can seem defensive or insincere.
Body language doesn’t just accompany communication — it either reinforces or undermines it.
Why AI Can’t Build Trust
AI can analyze communication, but it can’t feel it. It can mimic tone, but not authenticity. Real trust comes from human presence — the warmth in a smile, the empathy in a response, the energy of genuine engagement.
As automation grows, trust remains a distinctly human advantage — the key to successful hiring and lasting relationships.
